Business
There are quite a number of adventurers in the world, many mountain guides, photographers and entertaining speakers. Relatively few people posses all those skills, and fewer yet are driven to take their passion into the boardroom where they can inspire and enable others to challenge themselves.
Duncan is Managing Director of Adelaide-based Chessell Adventures incorporated in 2003. He has built the organisation from a single guide for hire (in 1997), into an international adventure company with operations in Papua New Guinea, Nepal, Tibet, Antarctica and worldwide.
Duncan still gets into the field a few times a year as the leader of private group adventures, corporate groups and exploratory expeditions, but over the years he has recruited and trained a team of world class expedition leaders, local leaders, cooks, porters, staff and local operators who deliver successful adventures.
Just as importantly, his HQ team is made up of people who are passionate about the outdoors and adventure, and about people. They work to help aspiring adventurers (whether first-time or experienced walkers, trekkers, or climbers) find their own goals and prepare for them – to give the best opportunity to succeed. The HQ team also coordinates every aspect of a trip away, applying Duncan’s hard-won expertise to deliver success for the participants.
